Jordanian Minister for Social Development Visits Cedar

On Thursday 2nd November The Cedar Foundation were delighted to welcome Jordan’s Minister of Social Development Ms. Hala Bsaisu Lattouf who was on a three day fact finding tour to Northern Ireland, visiting a number of government departments and voluntary sector organisations. She visited our Balmoral Training and Resource centre to learn more about local disability services.

Shauna Smyth, South Eastern Service Manager gave a presentation on Cedar’s Inclusion Works programme. This is a person-centred service supporting individuals to engage in work, training and social activities local to where they live. Inclusion Works is funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and all five local Health and Social Care Trusts.

Ms. Lattouf was also given an insight into the developments in our Living Options Service in Meadowvale and Ardkeen and the use of assistive technology to support people with disabilities in their day to day living.

Cedar Chief Executive Stephen Mathews commented: ‘I am delighted that we had the opportunity to showcase our work, the commitment and expertise of our staff and the tremendous achievements of Cedar’s service users. We wish the Minister well in her quest to improve services for people with disabilities in Jordan.’
